What You'll do

In this relaxed, beginner-friendly session, you’ll throw a heart-shaped pottery piece on the wheel with hands-on guidance from our instructors. We’ll help you shape, smooth, and refine your form. Once you’re finished, we’ll handle trimming and firing. You’ll return later to glaze your piece and bring it to life with color and shine (requires second firing).

You will throw your pottery using a pottery wheel.

Choose your project

tart with a bowl, cup, planter, vase, or candle holder and form it into a heart.

Create with help

We walk through each step so kids and adults can make the basic forms and add some details. Leave your piece with us for trimming, bisque firing. We’ll message you when it’s ready, it usually takes about 2.5-3 weeks!

Add Color + Shine

Come back to glaze your heart using bold colors, soft neutrals, or classic finishes. Make it sweet, dramatic, minimal, or totally extra, it’s yours. Glaze is $16.50 per piece and requires an additional firing. Glaze makes your pottery food-safe and waterproof.

Pick Up Your Masterpiece

Collect your finished, fired pottery heart. Gift it, display it, or keep it as a reminder of something you made by hand.

When Do I Get My Pottery?

MAKING HANDMADE POTTERY TAKES TIME AND THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES!

Smashed Clay projects and experiences are designed using our proprietary method, techniques and tools to help jumpstart your project.

However, it takes years to learn the art of handmade pottery. While we hope your finished project turns out exactly as you envisioned, there is no guarantee that your handmade pottery will make it through the entire process and/or result in what you set out to make.

Thick pottery may take longer to dry. Pottery that is too thick, too thin or constructed in a manner that creates stress during the drying or firing process may crack, break or explode. Pottery can take 2-3+ weeks to dry, prepare and bisque fire. You can monitor the status of on our website.

Do I Have to Glaze My Pottery?

Any pottery that will come in contact with food or drinks would need to be glazed and fired to seal the bisque and create a food and dishwasher safe finish. If you intend to use your pottery to hold water or if it will be exposed to the weather, you may also want to glaze your pottery.
