Experience Refunds & Cancellation Policy

Pottery Pick Up Policy

We allow 3 weeks to pick up your pottery after the initial firing and/or the glaze firing.  If you cannot return to pick up your pottery within the 3 week window, you can request shipping or an in-studio hold during the 3 week window.  Due to limited space in our studio, we cannot keep pottery after the 3 week window has passed; we do not offer refunds if you miss the pick up window.  Please monitor the status of your pottery using your order confirmation you received after completing your experience.

Cancellation Policy

Our studios have limited seating, so when you book an experience at Smashed, we hold the seat for you.  We are a small business and depend on full classes to operate.  We are unable to fill seats when customers cancel with short notice or don’t show up.  For that reason, we cannot provide refunds if you do not show up or for appointments cancelled within 24 hours of your booked appointment.

If you have already registered for one of our classes, experiences or workshops, and you are no longer able to attend, our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Full refund if cancelled up to 24 hours in advance of your booked experience.
  • No refunds if cancelled within 24 hours of your booked experience or if you do not show up.  If cancelled within 24 hours of your booked experience, a store credit may be issued at the store’s discretion.
  • In lieu of cancelling your appointment, you may reschedule your appointment or transfer your appointment to another person. No refunds will be given for transferred or rescheduled appointments.
  • If you would like to cancel your appointment or transfer it to someone else, please use the link you received in your email confirmation or text +1 281-305-0651.
  • If, for any reason, the studio must cancel a workshop, you will be issued a full refund for your booking.

Late Arrival Policy

Because our classes are group classes, you must arrive on time to fully participate in the experience.  If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we will be unable to integrate you into the class.  Our late arrival policy is as follows:

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you can either:

  • Join the class at the midway point.  You acknowledge that your time will be limited to the remaining class time.  If you are participating in a couples challenge, you will only be able to make one project.  No refunds will be given.
  • Reschedule for another time when seats are available.  No refunds will be given.

Experience Refund Policy

Smashed Studio projects and experiences are designed using common pottery techniques and supplies, however it takes years to learn the art of handmade pottery and there are a lot of things that can go wrong – even for professional potters.  For that reason, the studio does not provide refunds for experiences.

While we hope your finished project turns out exactly as you envisioned, there is no guarantee that your handmade pottery will make it through the entire process and/or result in what you set out to make.  Thick pottery may take longer to dry.  Pottery that is too thick, too thin or constructed in a manner that creates stress during the drying or firing process may crack, break or explode. 

The process of drying and firing pottery can be unpredictable and the timing can be impacted by factors such construction of the pottery, humidity and ambient temperatures.  While we target to complete the process in two weeks, there is no guarantee on how long it takes to fire your pottery and have it ready for pick up.

If you request shipping for pottery made during your experience and an item is missing or arrives broken, please email us at hello@smashedstudio.com within 7 days of receiving your pottery. Please include photos of the damage if your pottery arrives broken.

Smashed Studio does not issue refunds for experiences, glaze, products or shipping costs if you provided the incorrect shipping address, delivery was attempted and “refused,” or the package was otherwise disposed of by the shipping carrier.

If your shipped items are delivered to Smashed Studio marked “return to sender,” you can pick it up at that location or request and pay for a new shipping label via email hello@smashedstudio.com.

Gift Certificate and Experience Packages Refund Policy

Gift certificates and experience packages/bundles hold no cash value and are non-refundable. Once purchased, they cannot be exchanged for cash refunds or alternative forms of payment.

If you are unable to utilize the purchased gift certificate or experience package, the remaining balance can be transferred to someone else or used towards the purchase of other experience types, services, or products offered by Smashed Studio. Product Return and Refund Policy

We get that shopping online for tools and materials can be tricky, and we want you to feel confident ordering from us. If something’s not quite right, we’re here to help.

Returns

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for the following:

  • Unused Tools: Must be in like-new condition with no signs of use.
  • Unopened Clay: Must be returned in the original, sealed packaging.

To begin a return, please email us at hello@smashedstudio.com with your order number and the items you’d like to return. Once approved, we’ll send you a prepaid return label, and the shipping cost will be deducted from your refund once we receive and inspect the items.

We do not accept returns on:

  • Used tools
  • Opened clay
  • Custom items

…but if you’re having an issue or something’s not working as expected, please reach out. We’re always happy to troubleshoot or help find a solution.

Damaged Items

In the unfortunate event that your tools or clay arrive damaged or something is missing from your order, please email us at hello@smashedstudio.com within 7 days of delivery. Be sure to include your order number and clear photos of the damage. We’ll make it right.

Shipping Costs

Unless you are returning an item due to damage or an error on our part, you are responsible for the cost of return shipping. We’ll provide a prepaid return label and deduct that cost from your refund or store credit. Shipping charges from the original order are non-refundable.

You’ll have 10 days from the date the return label is issued to send your item back. Items must be returned in like-new condition and securely packaged, we cannot offer refunds for items that arrive damaged.

Refunds

Refunds are processed once returned items are received and inspected and issued to original payment method. Store credit is available upon request and will be issued for the item’s value minus return shipping.

All gift returns are eligible for store credit only.

Additional Information

If you purchased your tools or clay from one of our retail partners, third-party websites, or distributors, please contact them directly to process your return or exchange.

We cannot issue refunds for orders with incorrect shipping addresses, refused deliveries, or items disposed of by the carrier. If your order is returned to us marked “return to sender,” you may request a new shipping label at your expense.
